Thomas McMurdo married Beatrice Maude Adelaide Lambeth on 9 May 1897 at Stockton on Tees, Durham, England. Other researchers have reported a daughter, Beatrice, born 1906, died 1909.The family emigrated to Natal, South Africa in 1910. After the death of her husband Thomas in 1914, Beatrice remarried with the name Rodda. The McMurdo children then took on the surname Rodda. Thomas McMurdo was a Cycle maker. He died on 27 November 1914 at Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, at age 37.
